1899 Cancelled Season 2: See the Full Information

The mysterious drama 1899 cancelled by Netflix, according to its makers. Co-showrunners Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, who also worked on Netflix’s Dark, announced the news of 1899 cancelled on Odar’s Instagram account on Monday. We, like Dark, wished for a second and third season to complete this incredible journey. But occasionally things don’t go as you had hoped.

In November 2022, the multilingual science fiction mystery series went online. It took place on the steamer Cerberus as it traveled across the Atlantic during the story’s titular year. The Cerberus encountered another ship on the journey that had vanished entirely months earlier. Very strange, seemingly unexplainable phenomena started to occur shortly after. Without giving anything away, Season 1 finishes on a crazy cliffhanger that might have completely changed the course of the show, but Season 2 doesn’t follow that course.

We don’t blame the 1899 creators for being dissatisfied with Netflix’s decision to axe the show; it’s evident. They previously admitted to having plans for further seasons, telling Deadline that its continuation “depends on the viewers” and the streaming service’s approval. Fans are, as expected, pouring into the comments section of Friese and Bo Odar’s postings to express their outrage at the news.

In addition to its compelling and intriguing plot, 1899 is a must-watch because of the technologies employed in its production. Friese and Bo Odar decided to try something different in 1899 by employing “The Volume” rather than conventional green screens due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you enjoy 1899, you should see the accompanying documentary, Making 1899, which takes viewers behind the scenes of the extremely complex production.

1899 will be a great hit for Netflix and will eventually be revived by the streaming behemoths. Considering Dark’s past, it’s not difficult to make assumptions. This series and the company’s ongoing collaboration with Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar benefit the company. The German couple hopes that 1899 will be as prosperous and lead to more endeavors. As always, we’ll inform you of any developments on the upcoming renewal of 1899.
