1. Oppo Reno 6 Pro

Rs.37,780

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is one of the slimmest and lightest phones in its class, and has the looks to go with that. The display is well-spec’d too. It’s a 6.5-inch full-HD+ AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ playback certification, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. One of the biggest upgrades to the Oppo Reno 6 Pro is the new MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. Games ran very well too. Despite the slim body, the back of the phone never got overly hot even after extended gaming sessions.

I found the battery life of the Reno 6 Pro to be pretty solid too. I was easily able to get about a day and half of use, which involved lots of video watching and checking social apps. This phone runs the company’s latest version of ColorOS 11.3, which is very similar in form and function to the version we tested on the Reno 5 Pro 5G (v11.1). The camera setup on the Oppo Reno 6 Pro is pretty much identical to that of the Reno 5 Pro, except for the new Bokeh Flare Portrait filter which is fun and works well.

2. Motorola Edge 30 Fusion

Rs. 39,999

The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion aims to strike the right balance by offering flagship-grade hardware wrapped inside a premium body. The phone sits between the Motorola Edge 30 5G and the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, which were launched earlier this year. Priced at Rs 42,999, the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

In terms of design, the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion features a glass back and an aluminum frame. The phone has an IP52 rating for water and dust resistance. The device offers great in-hand field due to its slim and lightweight form factor. The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion measures about 7.45mm and is only 175 grams heavy.

Software performance is also quite good. The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion runs on the Android 12-based MyUx skin to offer a near-stock Android experience. On top, you get some useful customization options, such as Moto gestures, wallpapers, etc.

The phone promises smooth performance with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC. It also packs a 4400mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging out of the box.

Camera performance is a bit shaky as the phone struggles to get the right skin tones when clicking human subjects. Otherwise, the main camera does a good job.

3. Mi 11X Pro

Rs.36,999

The Mi 11X Pro sports a big 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a1 120Hz display and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and the back. The Mi 11X Pro has an IR emitter on top and an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance. The design looks flashy and has a big camera module at the back which protrudes quite a bit.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor that is paired with 8GB of RAM. You get 128GB and 256GB storage options but these aren’t expandable. Xiaomi ships the Mi 11X Pro with MIUI 12 on top of Android 11. It does have preinstalled apps that occasionally push spammy notifications. The Mi 11X Pro has a 4520mAh battery and has a 33W charger in the box.

You get a triple camera system with a 108-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera and a 5-megapixel “telemacro” camera. These cameras offer good performance in moist lighting scenarios for the price. If you are looking for a good allrounder with flagship performance, the Mi 11X Pro will appeal to you.

4. One Plus 9

Rs.37,999

The OnePlus 9 still feels solidly built and the plastic frame does look like metal, even though it’s not. The alert slider and buttons have good tactile feedback, similar to the ones on the 9 Pro. The OnePlus 9 has a similar 6.55-inch AMOLED display as the 8T. Software is taken care of by OxygenOS 11, which is based on Android 11.

Performance has been very solid right from the get go thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The display is excellent, colour are vibrant, brightness is very good, and viewing angles are more than satisfactory. The OnePlus 9 delivers very good battery life; a bit better than the 9 Pro in fact, in my opinion.

The cameras on the OnePlus 9 are a big upgrade compared to its predecessor’s mainly due to better sensors. The selfie camera is the same one used for the OnePlus 9 Pro, and it’s decent but not great. The OnePlus 9 is a good smartphone in its own right, but hard to recommend when you have the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G and OnePlus 8 Pro selling for around the same price.

5. One Plus 10R 5G Endurance Edition

Rs.37,999

The OnePlus 10R 5G (150W) is the successor to the OnePlus 9RT. The phone’s frame and rear panel are made from polycarbonate and features a matte finish which does not feel premium even though it is good at rejecting fingerprints.

Its AMOLED display packs HDR10+ capability, showcases deep blacks, and gets quite bright. It also features a 120Hz refresh rate and a 720Hz maximum touch sampling rate which is useful for gamers.

The phone has MediaTek’s Dimensity 8100-Max processor which is a customized version of the regular Dimensity 8100. The customizations according to OnePlus are said to improve gaming and AI performance along with low-light video.

The primary camera’s performance is good in daylight, but the ultra-wide-angle and macro cameras are quite average. Battery life is solid and the 150W charging system, a highlight of this phone, works as expected.
